“if you’re in the SF bay area look up in sky! I just saw a 4 pointed, skinny, rectangular object gliding longways at a slant, very LOW, then turn over on its side and fly off but still low. This is going to sound so crazy. I am stone sober! trajectory is north toward the SF Bay, toward Marin I guess.”
I was in my kitchen drinking orange juice at 4 o’clock in the morning when I decided to check on my truck in the outdoor lot next door because the gate had been stuck in the open position for a month or so, making every night an opportunity for vandals.
The best vantage point to get a good view is through a West facing floor-to-ceiling corner window in the living room where the shade is always drawn about 75% and the pulley to open it inconveniently located behind an entertainment center. Being difficult to access as well as loud & squeaky when tugged (with a sleeping husband just down the hall) I laid on the floor to take a peek. Tummy side down, legs straight back, elbows on the floor, hands under chin.
That early morning was so dark, I’ve often described it as “inky.” Nothing illuminated. No streetlights, no windows glowing in the surrounding buildings, no cars on the street. Not even the slightest whiz of traffic coming into SF from the nearby Bay Bridge. A single, bright light in the window of a nearby dilapidated building was the only exception so I grabbed a set of binoculars from my husband’s sail bag to investigate.
Not finding any movement inside the lighted window, I turned my gaze back to my truck, then up to the dark sky and immediately saw white lights rapidly twirling downward on a diagonal trajectory in my direction. I thought a jet was falling out of control but quickly knew with certainty that wasn’t the case because there were no red or green lights. Though I was sure the lights were fixed to an object by their pattern rotation which slowed as it neared closer. I soon saw the object was a giant, black rectangle, which had been spinning like a top on its vortex. The spinning stopped and it glided into a position directly in front of me at my window, straight up and down/longways like a big black door, where it hovered above the ground. It had four round white lights — one on each corner — and was completely stable in its hovered state. The lights did not emit a beam, pulsate, or blink. The rectangle did not wobble. I don’t recall hearing any sounds at all.
I inspected the rectangle with my binoculars but there was nothing to see on the surface other than the black “color” and four white lights. My binoculars fogged up so I put them down and shortly thereafter it slowly levitated, turned on its side (think flying carpet style), and floated off.
I’m often asked why I didn’t wake my husband or take photos. The answer is, that I was in such a peaceful state, full of awe, it didn’t even cross my mind to do anything to distract from the moment.
